Anyone for Tea Coffee may be the buzz drink these days – but tea houses continue to spring up around Brisbane.
Tisane is a stylish new Fortitude Valley café that serves a selection of 20 different teas, specially sourced from Ceylon. It’s designed to capture a boutique hotel feel, and aims to be a comfortable dining option for men, women and families.
The menu covers traditional high teas (two and three tier trays), the ploughman’s lunch, home-made pies, curries, cake and sandwiches. There is an in-house pastry chef and everything is baked fresh.
The Tea Centre, in the Brisbane Arcade, is a haven for tea-lovers with 185 different blends to buy. There’s no café here, but you can take home your brew and pick up beautiful china cups, pots and accessories while you’re there.
The grand old lady of the Brisbane tea house scene is Room with Roses. With its commanding position on the gallery level of the Brisbane Arcade, it is a delightfully old-style café that serves tea and coffee, ribbon sandwiches, scones and light meals.
