South Brisbane Cemetery The South Brisbane, or Dutton Park, Cemetery was built in the 1870s. The area’s prominent citizens were laid to rest on the cemetery’s highest ridge, while some of its more infamous residents lay forgotten in the darkest groves.
Section 6B was reserved for our worst criminals, those killed on the gallows at Boggo Road Jail. Among them is Ellen Thompson, the only woman to have been hanged in Queensland, and Patrick Kenniff, Australia’s last bushranger.
Ghost sightings are common in 6B. A cold wind is said to blow from Patrick Kenniff’s grave, while a Chinese man has been spotted at the crossroads as night falls.
