Brisbane Arcade Ghosts
The Brisbane Arcade is an historical gem on the Queen Street Mall that absolutely exudes charm. It is associated with Brisbane’s infamous Mayne family as it was once the location for Patrick Mayne’s butcher shop.
Shopkeepers agree that there is an eerie feeling in the building after dark. Many have reported a female figure walking along the gallery level, while others have heard her footsteps in the staff-only quarters.
There are a few possible identities that have been linked to this apparition. Some say she is Patrick Mayne’s wife, who will forever walk the building as eternal punishment for her family’s sins. More likely, she is a former shopkeeper unable to leave the building, even in death.
